Family friendly restaurant filled with locals...always a good sign. Coffee is hot, strong and constantly refilled. The homemade bread is delicious and fresh. Breakfast combos are a steal. Excellent waitstaff! Quick and attentive.

Excellent homemade bread. Also have donuts and bakery items. Kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes. I had the breakfast sandwiches.

Good Mexican at a reasonable price. Free chips and salsa. I ordered an a la carte tamale and baja taco with shrimp. Both were yummy. Everyone at my table enjoyed food. Their bakery items looked delicious and they had some unique items like pumpkin chocolate chip bread and rhubarb upside down cake. Even had free samples on the counter, I didn't try any since I'm watching my sugar. We came in for an early lunch so there was a crowd of people finishing up breakfast. It looks like a popular breakfast spot for locals with some nice offerings. Unfortunately, service from the breakfast staff was odd. They gave half of us coffee even though nobody asked for it. We asked if we could move to a more secluded table because we had some business to cover with our group, she said she didn't know and nothing more was ever said. She didn't know if they had tamales that day and again didn't try to find out. Service from the lunch staff was good. She even offered to include a little cup of green chili with our tamales.

I always wondered what a tostone was, being a long time fan of plantain nachos. And now I know, thanks to Buen Dia: a twice fried plantain chip, even tastier somehow than my beloved plantain nachos. I've been craving good plantain appetizers since I was uprooted from Chicago and now I have refound them, so happy days are here again. Absolutely delicious and great service!

I thought my shredded beef tacos were good but not the best I've had. The other two people in my group raved about the food here. Good food and good prices. Excellent service. Be sure to order guacamole with plantain chips! And Make sure to visit Mammoth Site and Wind Cave nearby.

It'll do. We were seemingly there during the off season because everything else, aside from the Chinese buffet, was closed. They gave the first basket of chips and salsa for free after that they would be $4 for unlimited chips and salsa. I ordered the baja tacos with shrimp. The actual tacos were decent. The rice and the beans were cold. Husband had chicken enchiladas. He said they were mediocre at best. The service was ok. I mean, we were the only table in the joint and my husband's drink went empty. Other than that, the server was friendly.

Wonderful restaurant. Husband and wife ownership. Priced very reasonably. Service was great. Guacamole was superb! Plantain chips a must. We both had chicken fajitas. Best ever! Easy drive from Mammoth Museum. Restaurant is very clean...even windows sparkled!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
